Varieties of Fancy Mice - AOV - Agouti

Photograph by Eric Jukes

Agouti (named after a South American rodent, and correctly pronounced "agooti" - not "agouti") is the coat colouring of the wild mouse. It is a pattern common in many other species of animals. The Agouti pattern factor is at the root of all varieties. For example, the Black is a mouse where only the black colour from the agouti pattern has developed and the agouti pattern factor is missing.
